"With the A Lane Residence, we sought to produce an architecture that responded to its unique site in a way that took advantage of the exciting potential for the lot while nesting comfortably within the existing fabric of the surrounding neighborhood.

The design is woven and embedded into the landscape to provide a seamless transition from interior to exterior. Standing as a two-story profile from A Lane, a walk-out basement carved into the site makes the house a three-story from the backyard; maximizing the panoramic views out over Pease park and the city skyline, including a dynamic cantilevered pool for an unrivaled vantage point.

The design also conforms to celebrate the large trees on the property, positioned around them to create a lush courtyard out from the kitchen on the main floor. The profile of the razor edge roof is specifically contoured to respond to the canopy of this courtyard tree.

The material palette of the home was curated to accentuate the home's integration with its site: Natural stone and concrete reference the indigenous limestone native to the Texas Hill Country and give the structure a strong, timeless facade from the street. Warm-toned wood and stucco give a tactile softness to contrast against the stone and expansive glass. Through this we've designed a home that we feel represents a natural modernity and will give the occupant a timeless place to live, rest, and entertain for years in its unique Central Texas setting."

Notes on Feasibility Documents

The zoning analysis and prelim area calculations regarding the feasibility for new construction on this homesite are above. This study is an attempt to show the absolute maximum area that could be constructed.

Based on the zoning for this lot, the maximum area for a new single-family residence would be 3,400 sf but through the habitable attic and basement exemptions, it is possible to achieve approximately 4,500-5,000 sf of area. It's important to note that the additional area above 3,400 sf will be located in basement space or attic space. With the ‘basement’ being a ‘walk-out’ potentially connecting to outdoor living.
